Introducing Seed 130

ree

A new creative space has launched in the heart of the City of London. Seed130, a dynamic gallery and cultural hub, has opened at 130 Fenchurch Street earlier this month. This initiative, designed as a meanwhile activation programme, will host a 10-month series of exhibitions, events, and discussions that explore the intersection of art, sustainability, and innovation.

Developed as a meanwhile activation programme, Seed130 serves as a testing ground for ideas that will inform future cultural aspects of the site’s redevelopment, led by developer CO–RE for Aviva Investors with a design team including WilkinsonEyre and Arup.

To help you learn more, here’s a quick Q&A:

What is Seed130?

Seed130 is a temporary gallery space that transforms a former retail unit into a hub for artistic and environmental exploration. It will feature a rotating programme of exhibitions, performances, and talks addressing themes of environmental awareness, ESG, and sustainable futures. The space will bring together artists, researchers, designers, and scientists to spark new ideas and dialogues.

What is 130 Fenchurch Street?

130 Fenchurch Street is a prime development site in the City of London. The site is being reimagined by CO–RE for Aviva Investors, with a vision to create a forward-thinking and sustainable urban space. Seed130 plays a crucial role in shaping the permanent cultural aspect of this redevelopment.

What is Move 37?

Move 37: Aftermaths and Alluvion is the first exhibition at Seed130, which is open to the public, by renowned contemporary artist Mat Collishaw. The work explores the impact of AI, genetic engineering, and industrial waste on marine ecosystems. It highlights both the potential and risks of AI in environmental sustainability.

The exhibition also includes Aftermaths, a haunting underwater dystopia, and Alluvion, a series of AI-generated floral compositions that challenge ideas of evolution and synthetic biology.
